As many of you probably already know, Disney World released their re-opening dates this week after being closed since March 15, 2020. With the re-opening of Walt Disney World Resort comes lots of questions about so many things. This post will provide all of the information that you should know right now, especially if you're planning to travel to WDW within the next few months. As a Disney Travel Planner, I am constantly being updated on any and all new information about the re-opening, so I will continuously be updating this post. Dates of Reopening
June 22: All Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Resorts and Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
July 11: Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom
July 15: Epcot and Hollywood Studios
Health/Safety Measures Being Taken Across the Entire WDW Resort
1. Enhanced Protective Measures
Every guest (Ages 2+) and Cast Member on property is required to wear a mask
Hand-sanitizing stations will be located all over the parks
Plexiglass will be found in all retail and Food/Beverage locations where physical distancing can't be carried out
2. Physical Distancing
All parades, shows, fireworks, and anything that draws a crowd are temporarily suspended
Reduced capacity of: all parks, attractions, transportation, retail locations, and restaurants
3. Enhanced Cleaning/Sanitation
Continual cleaning of highly-touched surfaces and areas with high traffic
4. Temperature/Health Screening
Guests and Cast Members will get their temperature checked before entering the parks
Health screening for guests (through a no-contact device)
5. Limited-Contact Enhancements
Contactless payment options: MagicBands, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Mobile Order (through the My Disney Experience App)
Enable more Mobile Order locations across the parks
All Meet-and-Greets and "playgrounds" are temporarily suspended
New Reservation System Information
This system only applies to Annual Passholders and Guests with an existing Resort reservation
You will have to make a park reservation in advance to be able to enter one of the four parks
In order to enter one of the parks, you have to: have a Valid Park Ticket and make a reservation for the same park on the same date
Annual Passholders and Guests who currently have Resort reservations will have seniority to this new reservation system
These guests will also have access to re-book Dining and other Special Experiences once the new reservation system is implemented
Other Important Information To Know
Disney World's water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach) are not a part of the initial re-opening of Walt Disney World Resort
No new Disney Resort or Ticket Reservations can be made at this time
All Dining (including Dining Plans), FastPass, and Special Experience reservations are cancelled
The booking window for Dining and Special Experiences will be changed from 180 days in advance to 60 days in advance
Extra Magic Hours are temporarily suspended
Park hours will be modified
DVC members can make new resort reservations
